Driving license: In despair 50,000 candidate drivers and 2,500 driving schools

More than 50,000 candidate drivers are still waiting, as the prolonged lockdown keeps most of the driving schools closed, as both the classes and the driving exams have been suspended once again. About 25,000 applicants are awaiting training and examination in Attica, while out of a total of 50,000 citizens who are with the foot… on the brake, about 10,000 are interested in obtaining a motorcycle license without knowing when the green light will be given for the restart of the procedure.

The whole process of examining candidate drivers is entering a new era, with the primary goal of strengthening road safety. The adoption of new technologies in the whole range of education of future drivers is carried out with the aim of eliminating corruption. At the same time, about 50,000 candidate drivers are awaiting the lifting of restrictive measures taken due to the pandemic. On average, about 190,000 driving licenses are issued annually. The driving schools, for their part, currently operate with only 5% of their activity, as only examinations for the award of professional diplomas are carried out. It is worth noting that in total throughout Attica the driving schools that have large vehicles (necessary to obtain a professional diploma) are only 15 of the 500 that operate.
